Act 47 Hearing – Colwyn Borough Hall – Tuesday April 7, 2015 at 7:00 PM

All interested Residents and Business owners should attend and offer their opinions as to why Colwyn Borough should be declared financially distressed.  This will be a Hearing conducted by State Officials with the Department of Community and Economic Development.  Order and Decorum will be kept throughout the meeting.

This will be a great opportunity for residents and business owners to give their input to the State on how high taxes affect their lives, services that need to be provided and the impact on the general health, safety and welfare of borough residents for services that may have been eliminated or services that need to be implemented.

For a glimpse into the reasons Colwyn Borough should be determined to be under Act 47 – for financially distressed communities, please review the Emergency Action Plan listed below:

Colwyn_Emergency_Action_Plan_with_Appendix

After the Hearing on April 7, 2015, the State will make a determination within 30 days whether or not Colwyn should enter Act 47 status.  If we are approved, the State will then appoint a Coordinator to work with us and develop a Recovery Plan.

Colwyn Borough may also be eligible to take out a loan with the State, to pay off all delinquent bills from 2008 to 2013 and will enable us to apply and be eligible for grants to assist with our borough in many areas.

Please try to attend this very important Hearing.
